Welcome to Barbershop Uncut Stories

Barbershop Uncut Stories is a groundbreaking theatre production that brings to life the rich, raw, and deeply human conversations that take place in Black barbershops across Britain, and possibly across the world.

Born from a desire to address the silence around Prostate Cancer in Black communities, this project uses the barbershop — one of the most trusted and intimate spaces in Black culture — as a stage for stories that need to be heard.

"The barbershop is more than a place to get a haircut. It is a cultural institution and trusted gathering place within Black communities, where friendships are built, experiences are shared, and important conversations take place."

These conversations matter because they save lives. Black men are twice as likely to develop Prostate Cancer, yet awareness and early diagnosis remain critically low. By meeting people in a space they trust, we open doors that traditional health campaigns cannot.
